Mia Bakal is a fourth year student of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, with a minor in Diplomacy and International Law at the University Sarajevo School of Science and Technology, who obtained her International Baccalaureate Diploma with the completion of her high school education in Druga gimnazija Sarajevo. She is a passionate, social, communicative and work driven individual whose main fields of interest and research are mental health, identity formation and cultural theory. In 2020/21 she took the role of representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina  in the ACIP program with collaboration with the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia. The experience, as well as her Erasmus+ exchange to the HagueUniversity of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands resulted in her interest and passion for international law.

She has acquired adaptation, inquiry, teamwork and leadership skills through a plethora of extra–curricular activities and work/volunteer experiences, especially in different NGOs. 

During April of 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Mia investigated the relationship between perceived threat, adherence to health measures, and level of distress in the student population in Bosnia and Herzegovina, resulting in her first publication "Social and behavioural responses during the COVID-19 pandemic in Bosnia and Herzegovina" in the Sarajevo Social Journal.

Mia is a long time member of the Sarajevo Unlimited Team as she started her Sarajevo Unlimited journey in 2015 first as a participant, volunteer, team leader, organizer and now finally speaker and panel member respectively.
